	Circa 1840. American Victorian Gothic, podium or pedestal bookstand. Purchased on a recent trip in North Carolina, we believe it was made in the South of local pine or cherry and stained to look like walnut. Exceptional multi-sided pedestal base, inset trefoil panels on the exterior sides of the slanted top surface. The top hinged surface opens for storage and is connected by two brass chains. Four original acorn finials finish this unusual podium. We have re-glued the entire piece and flattened the top surface. Lightly cleaned and waxed dark old finish. Good usable condition. 47" tall x 20 3/4" wide x 18 1/4" deep (square base). Price $1800
