Most charming Louis XV pattern on these 32 pieces of the finest French sterling flatware. Made by well known Master Smith Veuve Leontine Compere, the decoration comprised of chased foliate handles in a flame-like pattern. The service ends of each piece, front and back, exhibit gorgeous lattices on a textured ground with chased rocailles and foliage issuing forth from the top of the lattices. Very decorative, yet sufficiently subdued to express that understated elegance that is so captivating. And, on a more practical note, lends itself well to mixing and matching with additional patterns and pieces. The salad/dessert and dinner sized spoons and forks are accompanied with a perfect compliment: a set of 8 each pearl handled dessert and dinner knives. The sterling ferrules a very graceful scrolling foliate motif. On the backs of the forks and spoons, a lovely interlaced script monogram may be found: "JL". Condition of this set is very good to excellent. the pieces date from the late 1800's and bear light signs of use. The knives have been re-bladed, and nicely done This is a great set.
