The now infamous Hermès Birkin was originally modeled from the iconic Haut à Courroies and the difference between them are the proportions; a HAC is taller than a Birkin but not as wide. The HAC is produced entirely by a single craftsperson, sewn by hand with beeswax coated linen thread.
This remarkable handbag is made from Clemence leather, which comes from baby bull and has a heavier weight and perhaps the most slouch to it from all the other Hermès leathers. The hardware on this bag is Palladium and it’s applied by a method unique to Hermès called pearling where each nail is hammered by hand until they resemble a small pearl, making a beautiful contrast against the Ebony color of the leather. It is a contemporary bag, with a Square L stamp, but reminds you of the old glamour of Paris.
