In very good condition throughout, this authentic Hermes 30 cm Birkin is a wonderful find. In Black box calf, one of the classic leathers used by Hermes, it embodies the essence of the Birkin perfectly. There is some mild scratching on the exterior, but this is both normal and expected with box calf due to its extremely smooth nature. Hermes bags are considered the ultimate luxury item the world over. Hand stitched by skilled craftsmen, wait lists of a year or more are commonplace. Box calf is smooth calf leather that is more rigid than the grainier Hermes leathers. It therefore holds the shape of the bag well. It develops a lovely patina over time, which is evident in this version. Box calf is one of the leathers that can be reconditioned by Hermes, if necessary. Matte palladium hardware is a rare and striking accent to this sleek and elegant black. Double rolled handles are carried in hand or at the elbow. Lined in chevre leather (goat skin) with one side zippered pocket and a protective footed bottom. The interior is clean with minor signs of gentle use. Date stamp indicates a 1999 production.
