This Hunzinger fliptop card/gaming table is signed with a metal label identifying the patent as being registered on June 26, 1894. It is made of oak, with metal chip cups and banding around the circumference of the tabletop. The table has carved paw feet. This example has been re-felted, but otherwise is in as found condition. The versatility of the two sided table surface is as useful today as it was over 100 years ago.
George Hunzinger was a furniture maker during the later half of the 19th century. He emigrated to the United States in 1855 and began manufacturing furniture in New York City. Like his contemporary furniture makers of the Victorian Age, Hunzinger's pieces are very decorative, and they also display his ingenuity.
