	Spectacular 18th century linen chest. Made of highly figured pale mahogany, the form is just stunning, note the bold carved knees with deep acanthus carved leaves, which gently flow down to the deep carved hairy paw feet. The two cupboard doors open to reveal six lingerie size drawers over two larger drawers .A full size drawer sits above the skirt with a large central carved shell. The lock for the two cupboard doors is a very early hand forged lock. The condition is very good, with the surface patina being very warm. This chest dates from aprox 1750-1770.This piece is a valuable item in its own right, but can also serve so many other functions. I can see this being used as a jewelry cabinet, by fitting the drawers with a velvet lining & sectional compartments. For the lady with the exquisite lingerie, what a special cabinet to keep it in! This cabinet measures 60" high xx 38" wide x 19" deep.
