A Travertine Marble Table from France with Mythological Style Bases – Very Good Condition – Re-Edition – 20th C.

This magnificent travertine carved marble table from France is very versatile.  It could be used as a table for dining , as an entrance table or any area that needs a strong focal point.  The travertine marble is in shades of tans, taupes, creams and browns.  Travertine marble is naturally pitted.

 The top of the table has carved gadrooned leaves around its perimeter.  The twin bases are carved sphinges with volute feet.  There is a central mythological carved mascaron between the two sphinges.  This table’s design is very loosely based on a famous marble and alabaster table by Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola (1507-73) for the Palazzo Farnese in Rome.
