Life Explorations Livingstone

The Life & Explorations of Dr. Livingstone by John S. Roberts.  Boston: B.B. Russell, 55 Cornhill.  Philadelphia: Quaker-City publishing-House.  Detroit: H.W. Warren.  Portland: John Russell. 1875.  An excerpt from the preface sums up this book perfectly – “The life of this truly great man, from its childhood to its close, is a living lesson which the youth of our country cannot take too closely to heart.  The child and boy, who, while undergoing the drudgery of twelve hours’ daily labor in a factory, found time and means to educate himself for the noble office of the Christian mission to the heathen, is as interesting and instructive a study as that of the grown man, whose determined will and untiring effort have made us familiar with more of the formerly unknown regions of the earth than any previous explorer of ancient or of modern times.”  The book is in very good condition.  It has green embossed cloth over board with a gold embossed lion along with gold embossing for the title and on the spine.  Due to the age of the book there is some edge wear to the top and bottom of the spine – but it is very minute.  The pages have some browning but the binding is tight and clean.  This book is very well preserved – a must have!  It measures 7 ½” x 5 ¼” x 1 ¼”.
