Log Of A Seacaptains Daughter Signed

Collectibles: Antique Books

By Alice Rowe Snow. A totally fantastic book dated 1944 it is in blue hardboard with lavish gold embossing of the title and a ship on the front cover it has the original dust jacket that is not in the best condition but never the less it is there. The complete title is Log of A Sea Captions’ Daughter w/ adventures on Robinsons Curiosa’s island by Alice Rowe Snow. Who sailed with her father Captain Joshua N Rowe. On the bark rustle during a voyage of 4 years and a half this book is autographed by Alice row snow on the title page. Published in Boston, Matdor publishing CO. ©1944 Edward K Meador. Printed in the united states of America. The dedication pages reads lovingly dedicated to my sons. Winthrop, Nicolas, Edward, Donald, and grandsons Winthrop JR and Needy. This is a absolutely fantastic book. I have a funny feeling this book belonged either to Alice or a family member. Inside of the book I find on the last 3 free end pages dried fern leaves glued to the pages as keepsakes and its really nice. Also inside the book is a loose black and white photograph of Alice R Snow with her name on it written in pencil. it’s a nice picture, she’s sitting playing the zither. It has a lot of inscription on the back of what this picture means. And it is signed mother snow. Also a loose envelope in the book, with the name on the front of Sur Knight. WS Vinal. This book has 108 pages

The overall condition of the book is very good all four corners are a little bit bumped and all the pages are clean and tight. A great read. Also has 22 pictures in this book, on the back cover of the dust jacket it reads here is a story of Robinsons Curiosa’s Island for all the young folks and the young feeling old folks. It includes adventures of a 4 yr voyage on a sailing vessel in the 1880’s witch will appeal to all lovers of the sea but let us read the authors introduction in part.

Mother and I went on many voyages with father my first trip was on the village bell at the age of 11 months. My parents were my companions as well as my teachers. My mother taught me the common school lessons. Guitar music, and sewing father shoed me how to box the compass, steer the ship and take the sun as we taste the deck each day for exec size he told me story after story of pirates shipwrecks and civil wars adventures often he made little pictures to help out his stories and I took after him making little pictures to help out my stories. As you will see when you read this book of course there were no cameras in those days for us to take photos. So we had to use pencils and do the best we could upon seeing the Grand Andes her enthusiasm is great but when she finds the trip is to go to Robinsons Curiosa’s Island. Her joy new no bounds and we were carried right along to this glorious n romantic place enjoying with her many thrilling adventures which she and her parents have with sea lions and water snakes. Also wonderful trips to Curiosa’s lookout and Curiosa’s Cave and other wild places on this rugged island.
