A fine 19th century antique portrait miniature of the Mother Mary & the Christ Child sensitively rendered in luminous flesh & jewel tones on an oval porcelain plaque, having the capital letter " K " & the number " 13 " impressed the verso along w/ an affixed label bearing the Roman numerals XXI & with graphite-penciled letters " E s x. " The plaque is encircled by a brass rope inner mount set within a larger velvet-covered frame, the nap having long since worn away. The piece is in untouched original condition w/ the exception of more recent replacements to the nails or brads which hold the backing in place. The condition is excellent w/ no chips, cracks, or restorations of any kind. the color & detail are crisp, clear & unclouded. Measurements: 8" x 10",overall w/ frame; 3-1/2" x 4-3/4", plaque.
