Mansion Sized Victorian Gilt Brass Chandelier

Circa 1860.   Spectacular is the only way to describe this extremely large, important, six arm gilt brass American Victorian chandelier, which would be at home in the parlor of any mansion or palace. Fresh to the market from the personal collection of an avid collector of top quality 19th century lighting, this Rococo gasolier features six graceful arms covered in sinuous leaves of varying sizes. Each arm radiates off a large circular open basket that is also surrounded by leaves and bunches of hanging grapes. The bottom of this basket shape is also covered in leaves and ends with a large bunch of grapes as it's finial. Above this large bottom section, in the center of the vertical shaft is a slightly smaller woven basket shape that is also girded with leaves and grapes and finished with more leaves at it's bottom end. At the top of the shaft below the canopy is another set of leaves which hold the long,  swaged leaf chains that attach to the arms under the shades. This extraordinary light is finished to perfection by six, Period, snow flake etched, 7" diameter, clear and frosted shades, which are ringed by 7" long cut crystal pendants. This is a fixture of very rare quality and condition with a virtually perfect original gilt finish which we believe to have been made by the renowned lighting maker, Cornelius and Co. of Philadelphia.  Professionally converted from gas and re-wired for safety. Very fine condition.  42 " long as shown x  47" diameter.   Price 25,000.
