	Incredible Meissen compote. As you can see it has a very wide reticulated or baskets weave edge. There are five reserves around the edge basically a shell cartouche with floral bouquets in each one. The basket weaving is all highlighted in gold enameling and in the center of the compotes are birds on stylized trees. The very fine enameling is so vivid & true to life, what a masterpiece of artistic quality that says “Meissen” The compote also has a basket weave at the bottom and a very interesting swirl as the compote stem rises to hold the bowl. Marked with the Meissen cross swords underneath and incised into the clay a mark of what appears to be the number 90, on the underside of the reticulated bowl there is an impressed number 8 and an incised number into the porcelain 2. The compote is in great condition –- having only very minor gold gilding wear to some of the edge spots where one would have constantly wiped or rubbed them. But the compote is so busy and so much decoration going on it is very hard to notice that. Stunning Meissen compote dating form the 19th century.
