Military Bronze Sculpture The Grenadier

The Grenadier Here is one of the most handsome 19th century bronze sculptures  It is by Italian born sculptor Luca Madrassi Tricessimo Italy June 1848-1919.  He studied and worked extensively in France. The biography of Luca Madrassi can be found in the book Bronzes of the 19th Century on page 445. This very masculine bronze is signed at the base L. Madrassi.  There ia also a plaque on the base in the front that reads - GRENADIER PAR MADRASSI MEDAILLE AU SALON.  Along with a foundry tag on the back of the base which reads Fabrication Francaise.  It has a wonderful rich patina and it stands on a spectacular verde marble base.  It is an impressive size measuring 36” high x 10 7/8”wide x 9 ½” deep.
