Beautiful large antique Tortoiseshell covered photo album. The cover is of the photo album is solid tortoiseshell, beautifully embellished with silver hinges and a large silver center cartouche that reads La Society Los Negros, Clara Cibils 1869 Montevideo. The gold-edged pages are intact and firmly attached in the cover. It closes tightly with two silver clasps. The album includes some wonderful old photographs of the period. Large in size, it measures 12" x 10" x 2 1/2". Excellent condition, the tortoiseshell is very dark probably due to sitting out for display.
