Napoleon Book In French

Napoleon by G Montorgueil chromotypograph plates by Aquarelles de JOB (Jean Onfroy de Breville).  Paris Ancienne Librairie Furne Boivin & Cie, Editeurs 5 Rue Palatine.  Copyright 1921. Quarto 4to book measuring 12” x 14 5/8” x 5/8”.   This fabulous book is unpaginated with numerous full-page fine colour chromotypograph plates by JOB.  The cover of this book alone is to-die-for!  It is very ornate and intricately decorated.  The cover is embossed cloth over board with numerous embossed colors including orange, blue, yellow, black and gold.  The book is in good condition. As would be expected there is some wear and scuff marks to the cover especially to the edges. It is also a bit dirty – appearing to have been well used and loved.  The cover has slightly separated from the binding but the pages themselves and the back cover are sturdy and tight.  The front cover is still attached just loose when opening the book.  The pages themselves are all in very good condition with some browning but all in all it is a fabulous copy. I can’t say enough about the chromotypograph plates – the detail and vivid naturalistic colors are eye opening and superb! There are over 25 full page illustrations with 4 of them being double pages.  The entire book is written in French – making it difficult for me to translate the story but there is a brief forward at the beginning of the book and the rest which is entitled Napoleon.  A grand grand masterpiece!  A must have for not only one whom appreciates books and their dying legacy but for the avid historian!
