Exquisite Birdseye Maple miniature spoon or spice scoop, probable Native American origin (obtained within an American Indian collection), although the form is one that is seen in Wales and sometimes in Norway. These were made quite similar to Native American ladles and given as esteemed token gifts from the mid 18th - late 19th C. Beautiful unfinished natural patina to the birdseye with a lovely swept handle. It exhibits an old yet unused condition with a great surface and will make a wonderful companion to your prized birdseye bowl or a supplement to a fine treen, wooden spoon or birdseye collection. It also would make a fine tea caddy spoon, and spice up your prized birdseye tea caddy. Measurements: Length 5 1/4", bowl 1" across.
