	1780 French Miniature portrait on ivory. Superbly painted and rare to see a bird. Portrait is approx. 1 3/4 inches in diameter and framed in a square black wooden frame. A lady, wearing a blue dress with black bodice, frilled neckline and pink ribbons at her breast, sleeves and hat. Her powdered hair upswept beneath a large black hat trimmed with ostrich feathers. She holds a birdcage in her right hand and a bird with her left. French School, of the period, grey/ blue background. Her face is beautifully painted as well as her hand. In wonderful condition with no chips or cracks to ivory. The paint is as strong as the day is was painted over 225 years ago. Due to weak dollar and the Miniature Art Market, prices are escalating. This is one of the best portraits of this kind I have ever owned or seen.
