| Rare 1912 American Miniature portrait oil wash on milk glass by John Ramsier of a member of the Winston family from Kentucky. Framed in a gilt metal locket type frame which is approx. 2 3/4 by 3 1/4 inches. Beautifully painted with blue marbleized type background. Young girl with bobbed hair, blue eyes and the sweetest face. Wearing a white embroidered and lace blouse. John Ramsier came to US from Switzerland and painted in Lexington, Kentucky. A well respected artist who specialized in Miniature portraits. He is featured in many american museums including one in Louisville. His work Seldom comes to the market and is well cherished by the family. He is a listed artist . Additional Genealogy work found the Winston family living in Kentucky from the late 1600's. An early relative was one of the first physicians in the region In lovely condition with no chips or cracks. Ramsiers' portraits are selling into the many thousands.
