Rare Italian, 16th – 17th Century Pillow With Metal Flowers

A 16th - 17th century Italian fragment of silk and metal flowers that were once gold but have aged to a tarnished silver color surrounded by red/wine and brown silk velvet. Edged with a 19th French red/wine cut silk velvet tape, 18th century handmade silver metal torchon lace and 19th century French silver metal eyelash trim. Backed with red silk velvet, insert 100% European down. (2 available)

Condition: Wear to the metal threads among the flowers revealing the silk ground beneath, typical of age. Two of the edges show how the flowers were once gold, this is due to being covered and not exposed to air which causes tarnish.
