	Rare Micro-petitpoint Purse 800 Silver Figural Dragon Frame Museum Quality Vintage Clothing: Vintage Purses
	a very rare and very early museum quality micro-petitpoint purse that I am sure has some historical significance that would be fun to research. The purse came from Canada originally and dates from the first half of the 1800's. The stitching is done in two different sizes, the finest being on the face and hands of the prince and the body of the bird. There are many areas that have no stitches if you look closely with a glass, but these appear to be intentionally left that way to give the purse dimension. The background canvas is tinted to match the colors and gives it a subtle shading resembling a painting. And I can't say enough about the fantastic pierced filigreed 800 silver frame with full-bodied figural dragons facing the center where a north wind face can be seen. Chain link handle is all done in tiny daisies and wreaths and is also original to the piece. Interior lining has two pockets and is fairly intact with only some splitting in an area about 1" x 1/2" at top of one side. Exterior of bag is in exceptional condition for its age. One side is perfect, the other has a wee bit of fraying right at each hinge ... very small. And there are a few areas around the outer perimeter where threads are loose -- all visible in the two scans of front and back. I am sure these could be easily tacked down, but for the sake of authenticity and the age of this piece, I prefer to sell it as found. This is an extraordinary purse that is worth much more than the price I am asking. Measures 7" wide x 9" high approximately.
