A huge Imari #2451 Tree and Well Platter by Royal Crown Derby is a rare and wonderful find! The platter ceased production in the early 50's but the year cypher dates this piece to 1905 making it just over 100 years old. Cleverly designed to hold a hefty mount of meat, the well has a depth of 2.5" to keep the juices off your cloth! The platter is balanced on half moon risers so it is elevated to sit perfectly on the table top. CONDITION: I hesitate to say Mint on a piece over 100 years, but I find no wear or losses to note whatsoever, so it has likely spent most of its' life serving aesthetic duty in a cabinet. All appropriate Royal Crown Derby Markings. Produced at Osmaston Road, circa 1905. England. |
