One of the best 19th century Shell work boxes to surface in quite some time! This box is glorious in every way, the design of the shells & the rich luster & colors, so well thought out. These boxes were generally made by the men on long ocean voyages as trinkets’ for the sweetheart. This box is in excellent condition, sitting on 4 bun feet .On the inside of the box lid is a mirror & the interior is lined with the original wall paper, that is in a fine oriental design.
