The legendary design house Salvatore Ferragamo expanded into clothing in 1980. ~Semi fitted jacket with pronounced shoulder pads, slash pockets on sides ~Hidden buttons down front, one visible button at neck ~Straight skirt with slight gathers at waist and slash pockets on side. I narrows slightly towards hem. Buttons and zips on side. ~Fabric is Black silk/cotton (67% silk, 33% cotton) with pronounced vertical weave. ~The entire suit is lined in black silk. C O N D I T I O N: Jacket Excellent, skirt very good....there is a subtle flaw in weave on back...see photo. The suit still looks fabulous. S I Z E: Skirt: length 28-1/2", waist 25", hips approx 37" Jacket: Length 24", sleeve length 23", waist area approx 28+", bottom of jacket is approx 39"+, shoulders across top 16-1/2" (with shoulder pads 18") European size 42...approx a size 8, please always use measurements. Salvatore Ferragamo He was 9 years old when he made his first pairs of shoes, for his sisters to wear at their first communions. Five years later, he opened a store based in his parents' home, and in 1914 he emigrated to Boston. He and his brothers moved to California, and settled in Hollywood, where he soon became a shoe designer for movie studios. He had acquired the moniker of "Shoemaker to the Stars" when he returned to Italy in 1927 and settled in Florence. He reestablished his shoemaking business there. Outfitting screen legends such as Lillian Gish, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn, and Marlene Dietrich. His most famous shoe creations were the ruby slippers Dorothy wore in The Wizard of Oz. Salvatore Ferragamo has expanded into producing luxury clothing, accessories, perfumes, and eyewear while maintaining its reputation for glamorous, flattering shoes.
