Circa 1850. Superb reticulated bowl in an 18th century Chinese export style by the famed Parisian imitator Edme et cie Samson . Samson was renowned in the 19th century (1837-1913) for imitating all the best porcelain made in Europe and China. This double handled bowl is a wonderful example of the skill he was famed for, with steep sides and flared rim, all with pierced, basket woven open work (reticulated) and decorated with an Armorial crest in the center of the bowl and flowers and wreathes on the sides and rim. There is also raised white enamel delineating many of the design elements, gilded rope handles an lots of gold trim. Fresh from a local Brooklyn estate. Very fine original condition, with no chips cracks or restorations. Clearly marked on the base for the Paris, France, maker Samson. 10 1/2" wide (handles) x 9" x 2 3/4" tall. Price 750.00
