	Nice American Ships Figurehead. Dating from the mid 1800’s.Not often does a person have the opportunity to acquire such a rare nautical /maritime antique. I believe the wood to be pine & it has a few coats of white paint on it. The carving is super, greatly detailed and very crisp while free flowing at the same time .She looks like Lady Liberty to me with the crown on her head & necklace around her neck. The curls in her hair are just delightful & her facial features are beautiful & so life like .She is in excellent condition, having only one hairline across her cheek. She measures54” Long x 10” Wide x9” deep at bust. This figurehead is from the estate of Richard Payne a long time resident of this area & he was one of the most sophisticated collectors in such diverse categories of antiques.
