Sumptuous late 1930's Vintage Silk Velvet Trained Gown. There is a very Medieval, Lady of the Lake look to this gown. This gown and a few others we just listed are part of our extensive Vintage Bridal collection. This collection is a labor of love as I love Wedding Gowns! and always have. **The fabric is usually referred to as silk velvet. It is the lighter weight, very drapey plush velvet used during this period. In truth, it might be a silk blend. The color of the velvet is Ivory...but not a yellow Ivory. Always hard to discuss color. It may be a bit more like Champaign. The 1930's loved every variation on the color Ivory, Creme, White etc. ** The top part of the gown gently follows the female form. It has a high neckline and long sleeves that end in points that extend over the wrist. The more fitted part of the dress is tunic length...and is in truth probably a stylized tunic look. It attaches to the skirt below the waist. The only detail is the deep pleat that runs horizontal around the lower hips. **The skirt is very full, but cut in such a way that it falls with little bulk from the drop waist. It has quite a long train which has a wrist loop. **The dress buttons up the front. C O N D I T I O N: Overall Excellent condition. It has some subtle spots. You could wear it as found, but I would have it professionally cleaned. This should freshen beautifully. S I Z E: Small to extra small. Probably a modern 4...maybe a size. "One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art." Oscar Wilde (1854-1900), English author, playwright. PLEASE NOTE: We do not clean most of our vintage clothing, and recommend that you either wash or have them dry cleaned. Any issues we believe will be problematic we mention.
