Superb Eight Piece Bedroom Suite

Circa 1878.  Superb eight piece American Aesthetic Movement, Eastlake bedroom suite in walnut and burl. One of the reasons this is an extraordinary set is it is all original, with nothing missing broken or replaced on any of the pieces.  Each piece is solid American black walnut faced with very highly figured and beautifully matched burled walnut veneers. The chest and the commode both retain their original brown and white "Tennessee" marble in fine condition.  All the cast brass hardware is present and each handle is dated "1878". The armoire, chest and bed all have tops decorated with five large carved flowers above a rail of pierce carved flowers and leaves. The commode and chairs have the pierce carved top rail but no flowers above (not missing). The headboard, footboard and chest of drawers all feature a large, round, carved and decorated panel. The armoire also has an ebonized panel incised with flowers above the mirrors.  The armoire has two large doors above two good sized drawers in the base.  The interior of the armoire has four removable shelves on the left side and hanging on the right side of the armoire. The mirrored marble topped chest has one thin "frieze" drawer with interior compartments above two large drawers and a slim, secret or "slipper" drawer in the base.  The commode has one slim drawer above three half drawers and a cabinet. The set also has three small side chairs, and a rocking chair. The bed with the fancy original rails is a standard double (full size) but is wide enough to be easily converted to Queen size.  This set is a wonderful example of late 19th century American Victorian furniture of the highest style and quality. Original finish which we have lightly cleaned and waxed.    Measurements: The bed's exterior length is 84" the exterior width at the widest is 62", the height of the headboard is 80 1/2" the footboard is 36 1/2" tall. The mirrored chest is 48" wide x 22" deep x 84 1/2" tall.  The washstand is 36" wide x 20" deep x 44 1/2" tall. The armoire is 63" widest (at the crown), 57" wide at the body, 24" deep x 98" tall.  The side chairs are 17 1/2" wide x 16 1/2" deep x 33 1/2" tall. The rocking chair is 18" wide x 29" deep (runners) x 32" tall.   Price for the complete set is 28,000. We would be willing to sell the set without the armoire.
