The Story of the Tower of London by Rene Francis with twenty Callotypes & etched frontispiece by Louis Weirter R.B.A.Printed at the Ballantyne Press London England. This large book is undated & is circa early 1900’s.12 ½” x 9 ½”.The book cover is tan color buckram with black decorative stamping on the cover of a Castle Guard. This large & impressive book has 240 plus pages, with deckle edge & tissue guards in front of every tipped in callotype. This book looks ancient or midlevel, the binding is good, the pages are clean. The cover is a bit soiled from age & use but is still very presentable & worthy. Other books by author Rene Francis include Cairo & its Environs: The Temptation of St.Anthony: Egyptian Aesthetics: Augustus: William the Conqurer: Lord Clive and more. This book covers everything you want to know about the tower of London!

The preface reads as follows

I have endeavored in this work to bring out the historical aspect of the Tower of London in its relation to the history of England, and more espically,to show the character of that history rather then mere facts. If I appear to neglect more than one episode of note, more than one description of such interest that it would seem to demand its place, my reason is that the proportion of such episodes & descriptions to the history as a whole has seemed to me to be off even greater importance than the episodes & descriptions themselves.
