Tobacco Leaf Cutter Black Slave Rare

Here is an exceptionally fine and rare tobacco leaf cutter.  This one is outstanding with the handle being a large cut out figure of a black slave.  This is all cut out middle weight iron.  The handle is quite unique.  It has a bronze top and bottom to the handle and in the middle are slices of different types of stones – I can tell that there are ebony, catlanite and bronze slices or almost hand cut flat beads.  The front of the slave cutter is on a bronze mount and this is all mounted onto a piece of hard wood which has a very nice mellow and rich surface patina.  It mechanically works very well and it has a lot of signs of age on the attached inset chopping surface. This is a well thought out design and quite a wonderful piece – in my opinion it is exceptionally rare and I don’t think you will find another. The base itself measures 12 3/8” widest x 8 1/8” deep x 1 3/8” h.  Overall it is 6 ½” high and the cutter is 13 ¾” long.
