	Early Curly Maple Treen Masher. Has THE most superb dark Tiger grain, and is just the best example of an early masher. Fine and Primitive looking at the same time, a very rare find! Beautiful handle with an undulating wood surface from use. About Treenware: Treen - a medieval term meaning "made from the tree", treen denotes any small domestic object, such as a this masher, made from wood. The keyword for treen is small and can be transported from place to place. Treenware, part of the country kitchen from the early 18th to the early 19th century. The design and type of wood chosen for each piece of treen evolved to best fit the job for which it was intended.
