Victorian Ebonized Wood Litho Carved Document Box

Superb English Victorian Documnet Box made of Ebonized wood and decorated with Victorian Litho scrpas and gold gilt to include a Monumental carved floral decoration on the lid top.

Grand size at approx. 17 inches long by 8 1/2 inches tall and 10 inches deep.

Black ebonized wood decorated with gold gilt in a leaf garland  lid trim and scroll work on the box.

Lid top has a gold gilt wood carving approx. 5 by 7 inches. There are also 4 acanthus carvings at all 4 corners.

All 4 sides are decorated in Victorian Litho Scraps. They include: figures in 18th C dress, couples, fans, flowers. They are displayed under glass on a light blue background.

Lid lifts to reveal a red velvet interior. Most probably a document box or strong box for valuables,

Sets upon black round feet.

Overall in lovely condition with one lower corner piece of wood missing.

So Victorian with everything but the kitchen sink.
