	Victorian Hat Box Chest Furniture: Chests, Comodes, Vanities: In Cherry With Stag Carving
	Circa 1890. Over-sized, Late Victorian "hat box" dresser in cherry. Strikingly handsome, featuring detail we have never seen before. This large fine chest of drawers has a hand carved scene of a stag, standing under a tree as it's centerpiece on it's back splash. The chest itself is six drawers high, with two short drawers and a hat box over four larger, graduated long drawers. Each drawer is decorated with a large, ornate carved flourish. The hat box door is a simple raised panel and there is a nicely carved detail on both the top and bottom of each flanking column. The hardware consists of four smaller matching pieces in pressed brass on the small drawers and eight larger similar pieces on the large drawers. All the hardware is late 19th century but I am not sure which were the original pieces. They go so well together I did not notice the difference until after I had purchased the chest. Original working locks and key. Very good refinished condition. 72" tall (with casters) x 43 1/2" wide, 20" deep.
