Vintage Moorcroft Hibiscus Vase

Mid century Large Jar shaped Vase by John Moorcroft from the Moorcroft Pottery Works in Stoke-on-Trent England, a works that has been in constant manufacture since the early 20th century. This vase is a beautiful example of earlier pieces and is signed by John Moorcroft (J.M.) with impressed markings of the pottery works. These pieces are finely moulded, hand decorated with raided slip patterns, hand painted and glazed, and fired between each process -- the last firing a sumptuous shine glass that adds Moorcroft's signature gloss to the piece. This one with a deep cobalt glaze and pale blue hibiscus with pale green foliage, a simpler design than found in the Moorcroft Vases produced today.
