Rare B 12 Cotes Clear Glass Lamp, c. 1910. This gem-shaped model is quite rare in moulded glass. With later cap, c. 1931. Marked with Berger Paris, indicating earlier vintage. These rare, early example of Lampe Berger are highly sought after and function with the modern wick and fuel. Lampe Berger was founded in Paris in 1898 to eradicate odors, specifically cooking and tobacco odors by killing air-born bacterias. Thanks to a unique process, high temperature catalytic combustion, the Lampe Berger is able to destroy the molecules behind unpleasant odors, halt the proliferation of bacteria (scientifically proven effective), and pleasantly perfumes the air. It has enjoyed celebrity for over 100 years and was a favorite product of such French luminaries as Coco Chanel and Jean Cocteau. |
