Weathervane, Rooster 19th Century

American Weather Vane, circa 1870, a Rhode Island Red Rooster from the Gilmanton, New Hampshire's Rochester Iron Works. THIS IS A FINE AND EARLY 19TH CENTURY VANE, NOT A RECAST.  The iron is painted in fine old dry paint, just as I  found it in 1972, in Medina Ohio.A rare opportunity to acquire a great piece of Americana from the 19th century.

This is an incredible well documented weather vane shown in all the AMERICANA and FOLK ART books by Bishop, etc. Has brought huge prices at auction. See listing archives for SKINNER. Has not been available for over thirty-five years, as it has been in my collection.
