Circa 1900-190, this exquisite solid sterling silver belts has 8 large ovoid sections, all decorated with repousse angels inspired by Sir Joshua Reynolds famous painting 'Cherub Choir'. The links mirror the putto motif, each large link comprised of lamberkins surrounding angelic mascerons. Condition is very good. Some of the pieces have minor areas of discoloration. For those who do not favor the aged patina of fine antiques, a professional clean will doubtless remove these very slight imperfections. Roughly 23" in length, this belt is a perfect gift for your little angel. Superb addition to a fine antique silver collection.Please see photos for dimensions and marks. As is standard for English sterling, each section of the belt bears the Lion Passant sterling guarantee for .925 silver, the London city marks, Comyns' maker punch. The year marks is on the buckle, which bears an inscription inside: "CISS, 18th Jany 1901".
