Circa 1918.  WWI hand held trench periscope. Fully marked "R & J Beck Ltd." mark IX, 1918. Used in trench war fare during World War I, this simple instrument allowed soldiers to see over the trench without exposing themselves. All original brass and wood, with a fine dark patina. Very good physical and working condition with good adjustable optics.   23" long x 3" wide.  Price  $395.
